If you have watched the Food Network then, you have most likely viewed the Iron Chef. They always have a “secret ingredient” to incorporate into all their courses. Well, how about cooking allergen-free? That would be a very interesting challenge.
The most common food allergies are considered nuts, fish, eggs, gluten, dairy, and soy. Now, you might be thinking, if you have to take away all of those ingredients, what can you make?
Well, there are three courses, the appetizer, the main entree, and the dessert. One secret ingredient could be citrus fruits such as lemon, lime, and orange.
The first course can be all roasted vegetables which include peppers, zucchini, eggplant, carrots, garlic, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes. They are very savory and flavorful, especially when, citrus fruits roast in the pan along side them.
As for the meal, lemon pepper chicken and a side dish of herbal jasmine rice. The rice should have all freshly, diced herbs such as parsley, basil, sage, and topped off with chives.
Lastly, is the sweet treat of dessert, a pumpkin bread. You can bake it with the following ingredients: canned pumpkins, orange zest, maple syrup, apple sauce, salt, baking soda and powder. You can plate it with fresh berries.
As you can see, it could be possible from the sample idea listed above. It could be an exciting episode!
